Yesterday we decided to take nala for a nice hike to our favorite spot. The only spot were we can go without a big crowd. I personally think i love these walks more then nala does. Its sort of a way to escape the stress of the day. More recently i have found myself stressed more then usual, between working and studying, i do not seem to have time to enjoy the beauty of the country i am living in. To say living in belgium as an immigrant has been difficult would be an understatement. When i originally decided to move to belgium, i had about two weeks to decide. As my boyfriend said he was sending me a large sum of money to pay off my current bills, so that i could move with him in two weeks (in a text message) because he was tired of living without me. I knew i had a relatively big decision to make and as most things in my life i didn't really think much about it, i just moved. I never really factored in how difficult living in a foreign country would be. Things such as the culture, people, food, laws, work, living without family and just about everything you can think of. The transition has not been an easy one, especially finding stable work. Currently i am only able to work for temp agency's and other certain jobs (under the table) for now. Im also currently learning dutch, which is an incredibly difficult language. However dutch is the key to my happiness and stable work. I just took my final exam of deel 1 of dutch, keeping my fingers crossed that i passed. Good thing for me though i can communicate with most of the people here, since english seems to be a universal language.
Even though It has been a rough few months, i find that the time i spend with nala and my other pets, is pretty much when i am at my happiest. Animals just seem to make things so much better. No matter the how difficult the day has been.... :)
